Protecting the people who feed our communities

At Kinetic, our mission is to protect workers—those lifting, packing, and moving the goods that keep communities running. This spring, we had the chance to put that mission into action in a uniquely powerful way.

In partnership with Nationwide and the Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC), we launched a safety pilot that brought Kinetic’s wearable devices to food bank employees and volunteers. Our shared goal: help prevent injuries before they happen by identifying and correcting risky movements in real time.

“It was like wearing a pager from the 80s or 90s with it having to be attached to the hip, but it was similar to wearing a Fitbit in terms of it tracking your steps and movements,” shared Meish Peacher, volunteer operations lead in MOFC’s Reclamation Department. “It has made me more cognizant of the way I move my body and the way I can save my back from future injury or issues.”

The results were immediate—and measurable:

  • 44% decrease in high-risk postures
  • 58% reduction in risky jumps
  • Sustained risk reduction

“This is no different than wearing a hard hat or safety glasses,” said Dale Hoppe, Senior AVP of Workers’ Compensation Programs at Nationwide. “The device is here to help protect you and bring awareness when you’re doing something that could lead to injury.”

For the food bank’s leadership, the impact went beyond metrics.

“The tools, support, and training from Nationwide and Kinetic gave us new ways to center safety in our daily operations,” said Rob Camp, SVP of Operations at MOFC. “It helps make safety part of your culture, which helps it become second nature. Their support helped us stay safe and focused on what we do best: feeding our hungry neighbors.”

Supporting the mission–together

When frontline workers get hurt, the impact is immediate—not just for the individual, but for the communities they serve.

That’s why prevention matters.

Kinetic’s Reflex wearables are designed to coach safer movement habits in real time, helping workers avoid injuries and organizations build stronger safety cultures. And as this pilot showed, even experienced teams gain valuable insight when they’re empowered with real-time feedback.

To show our support beyond the pilot, Kinetic team members rolled up their sleeves at food banks across the country—from Frankfort to San Francisco. We packed meals, sorted donations, and worked alongside the people who show up every day to serve others.

Over 16,000 meals packed. Thousands of pounds moved. One shared mission: to protect the people who power our communities.

Here’s how our teams showed up:

  • Liberty & Lucas help serve 70+ hot meals in flood-hit Frankfort, KY
  • Sarah & Jane packed 3,500 lbs of pasta in Nebraska
  • Stephen helped pack 4,000 meals in Illinois
  • Brendan packed 12,250 lbs in San Francisco (and conquered the parking scene!)
  • Bonnie joined 92 volunteers to serve 902 families in Fort Worth
  • Andrew, Nikhita, & Michelle helped pack 8,025 lbs in Austin

"At Kinetic, our focus has always been protecting the people behind the work. When we help reduce injury risk for frontline teams, we're supporting the missions, communities and individuals who rely on those workers every day," said Haytham Elhawary, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer, Kinetic.
