Kinetic Helps Stinger Logistics Take Control of Workers' Comp

Written by KINETIC | Apr 23, 2025 11:36:50 PM

The challenge

Stinger Logistics, an Amazon Delivery Service Partner (DSP), understood a structured return-to-work (RTW) program was critical to managing injuries and supporting employees. But without a standardized process—or support from their insurance carrier—their program had become muddled.

Light-duty accommodations were inconsistent. Some injured drivers were placed in non-profit roles, others worked remotely, and too many stayed home altogether.

Claims costs soared. By 2023, their claim costs were more than double their premium, impacting their Ex-Mod, and driving up future insurance costs.

The solution

The transformation began when Kinetic reached out to discuss its Rapid Return-to-Work solution—kicking off a collaboration that'd redefine how Stinger Logistics managed workplace injuries.

Stinger Logistic's HR leadership worked alongside Kinetic’s team to build a comprehensive injury management system. Within months, they:

  • Launched a structured RTW program.
  • Implemented a new injury reporting process.
  • Created a transparent pipeline for tracking each employee’s recovery progress.

At this core of this new approach was Kinetic's Rapid Return-to-Work Program which offers up to 45 days of safety training for injured employees, keeping them engaged and preventing minor injuries from turning into costly indemnity claims.

Shifting to a structured RTW model required alignment among injured employees, medical providers, and claims adjusters. Stinger Logistics prioritized clear communication and collaboration, ensuring all stakeholders understood the benefits. They worked closely with Kinetic to refine processes, remove friction points, and create a seamless experience.

By February 2024, the new injury management system was in place—and the impact was undeniable. Indemnity claims were decreasing, recovery times were shrinking, and the company was regaining control over its workers’ compensation costs.

“Workers’ comp isn’t just about protecting the business—it’s about doing right by our employees. If someone’s injured, we want to make sure they’re getting the care they need and returning to work the right way.”

The results

  • 94% reduction in losses: By deploying Rapid Return-to-Work (RRTW) on day one of eligible claims, the company sharply reduced losses and their loss ratio.
  • Fewer lost-time claims: Indemnity claims fell 70%, with claimants either returning to modified duty or exiting before losses accrued, and total indemnity costs dropped 64%. Even as total claim frequency remained stable, fewer escalated into long-term cases—demonstrating the impact of early intervention.
  • Decrease in claim costs: With consistent processes in place, the company cut their average claim cost from $17,000 to less than $2,000. Claims that once dragged on were resolved quickly and cleanly.
  • Sustained improvement: Injury management system is now a core part of the company's operations. They’re on track to cut claim frequency by 50% in 2025.

"Know your drivers, talk to them, and build trust—because catching an issue early can make all the difference. And don’t underestimate the value of a good insurance partner. I could’ve gone cheaper, but I stayed with a carrier that offered real support. The right relationships—on both sides—can make or break your business.”
